Gluttony Derived from the Latin gluttire, meaning to gulp down or swallow, gluttony is the over-indulgence and over-consumption of anything to the point of waste. In the Christian religions, it is considered a sin because of the excessive desire for food, or its withholding from the needy.

Depending on the culture, it can be seen as either a vice or a sign of status. Where food is relatively scarce, being able to eat well might be something to take pride in (although this can also result in a moral backlash when confronted with the reality of those less fortunate). Where food is routinely plentiful, it may be considered a sign of self control to resist the temptation to over-indulge.

Listen up, Pigs!  In todays world of excess, the deadly sin of gluttony can easily be expanded to incorporate over-consumption and excess in any form or all of you for overindulging with your credit cards!  In an age where CEO’s and entertainers receive tens of millions of dollars for their efforts and actors sometimes end up on drug rehab centers while people in the same society are starving, gives an expanded few of the term.  Gluttony, in Latin Gula, is represented by the pig and color orange.

The Armstrong Solution
Shortly after the beginning of The Armstrong Solution, Kathy Armstrong is divorced and seeking to start her life fresh.  She sees gluttony all around her:  in the corporate world as she is elevated to vice president, she sees the Executive Committee  seeking to maximize bonuses and stock prices.  At first Kathy buys into the corporate mentality after getting her promotion, but what looks so good begins to unravel as the EC’s scheme to addict the consuming public begins killing them.  Kathy must unravel the scheme, save her co-worker, held in Mexican prison against her will, and stop the evil plot dead in its tracks.

The book and the sin . . .
Kathy Armstrong, the heroine of ARMSTRONG, is first attracted to the benefits of the corporate life.  She even makes major contributions to maximum profits, for which she is rewarded with a promotion to vice president.  Only then does she begin to discover that the Executive Committee, which she just joined,  might be guaranteeing their financial results to their parent company in New York by addicting the consuming public to their products:  in fact the EC’s behavior, similar to the recent gluttonous behavior of Wall Street, can only be stopped when Kathy saves her co-worker from illegitimate detention in Mexico and prevents the evil CEO from fleeing the country in a nail biting conclusion!
